Authenticity and interactiveness are test qualities specific to communicative language tests. Authenticity is defined as “the degree of correspondence of the characteristics of a given language test task to the features of a target language use task” (Bachman and Palmer, 1996:23).
Bachman and Palmer include six qualities in their model – reliability, construct validity, authenticity, interactiveness, impact and practicality. Reliability is the consistency of measurement. A reliable test score will be consistent across different characteristics of the testing situation. Three aspects of reliability are taken into account (Weir, 1990:32).
